Today’s post is centred around the idea of letting your Zodiac sign decide your day, including things like, hair, make-up, nails, outfit, food, drinks and even activities. If you’re not aware, there are zodiac charts out there for various things on the internet that tell you what to wear, how to eat etc. for each zodiac sign. So in this post I followed what they said for an entire day for my sign… Gemini. This is quite a timely video as I just turned 30! What better way to celebrate turning the big 3–0 with you guys than letting my star sign help me try out some new things. This concept is definitely better as a video so why not watch that below!
Geminis get a bad rep for being two-faced but the only way I can see that being true for me is that I’m really shy when I first meet people and only come out of my shell when I get to know you. Is that really two-faced though? I feel like that’s a valid way to be. According to Google, we are also playful, loyal, smart and intellectually curious.
Geminis are constantly juggling a variety of passions, hobbies, careers, and friend groups. (That bit’s true.) With a mind that’s constantly racing, even when they’re just quietly hanging out, the Twins never get bored. In fact, Geminis are happy keeping their own company. (Also true.)
Expert communicators, they are the social butterflies of the zodiac: These quick-witted twins can talk to anyone about anything. (That bit is so not true for me. I care too much about what other people think and I’m scared of embarrassing myself, so I don’t really talk that much at all unless I know you well!)
There’s a lot of info out there on what Gemini’s are like, I feel like it’s easy to connect with at least some of it. Let’s see how much I resonated with all the elements that the zodiac charts had we wearing, eating or doing throughout the day.
Nails
I got my nails done to match my Gemini nail chart the last time I had my acrylic nails infilled. Here is what they looked like on the day. I actually really loved them! When I got them done they had nail tape on them. But that stuff is rubbish and it came off the very next day. I had to go in and paint on some gold stripes myself. They are a little bit um not straight but you get the idea.
I love neutral nails that go with everything but typically go for light colours like nude pink or white. Black is totally a statement that I would normally associate with more of an emo, alternate or goth look but the mix of matte and gloss gives it a more lux vibe. I’m actually obsessed with matte black nails now and have gone for a similar dark look for my latest manicure.
Make Up
Here’s the zodiac chart that I went off for my eye make-up. My day-to-day eye make-up is usually neutral browns, but I actually really liked this blue make-up look. I’m not sure how great I pulled it off but I definitely felt different. This was the first time that I used magnetic eyelashes. I went for a really lux eyelash because it looked quite thick in the picture. My eyes felt super heavy but I really liked this look. It’s not something I ever would have done myself but I loved it.
Here’s the zodiac lip chart I found for Gemini. The Gemini colour is really rather deep and dark and moody and kind of purple toned. So this was the closest I could find in my collection. I can’t say that I wear this one all that often. I do think it worked really well together with the eyes. The completed look was vastly different from my usual make-up in every way but I really loved it.
Hair
So for my hair, I went with this zodiac chart. The Gemini hairstyle is a low messy bun. My hair isn’t that long so I usually just leave it down and let the natural curl come through. I don’t love having my hair pulled back from my face because I feel like it makes my nose more noticeable. This wasn’t too bad though because it had all the wispy bits around the face. My hair didn’t seem to agree with the part in the middle after so many years of side parts. It had a bit of a kink where it usually parts.
Outfit
Finally, for the outfit, I found this zodiac chart to work off. It’s actually totally something I would wear. It didn’t show what shoes to pair with it though, so I used a separate shoes chart to help me pick. It says Geminis should wear fur embellished booties.
I don’t really have the fur embellished part, but I chucked on my black sock booties hoping that was close enough. The outfit was definitely something I’d normally wear.
After I was ready for the day, I set forth to get Naomi ready for her day too. I wasn’t going to put make-up on her, and I couldn’t do much with her hair, but I created an outfit for her from the same zodiac chart, based on her star sign which is Libra. Libra’s are described as charming, beautiful, and well-balanced. Well-balanced – what a nice thing to be known for instead of two-faced. They thrive on making things orderly and aesthetically pleasing. They also crave balance, and they can be equally as self-indulgent as they are generous. And I don’t think any of that is off for Naomi.
I let her chose between two black dresses to avoid a tantrum and then layered a pale pink bomber jacket over the top. It was a size 6 so it sat a bit big on her but it was the closet thing I could find in her wardrobe to the outerwear in the chart.
Breakfast
So I found a breakfast chart online as well. I got to eat cereal and Naomi got waffles. I was pretty jealous. Naomi is normally the one to eat cereal. She loved her waffle which she cutely called a “woolie” and I managed to get through my cereal, only just.
Gemini Activity
Once we were ready to start the day, I found an activities chart on the internet on what Gemini’s and Libra’s are supposed to do. It says on the chart that Geminis should draw. So that’s what we did. I drew a unicorn at Naomi’s request and she apparently drew a “nasty” whatever that is.
Morning Tea
For morning tea, I thought some fruit would be a good idea. Apparently I should be eating pomegranate which I have never had before. Naomi as a Libra got a kiwi fruit. The pomegranate was very crunchy and I didn’t love the texture but the taste was good. The juicy part sprays in your mouth and explodes but then you have the seed which just brings down the whole fruit! Naomi tried the pomegranate too and spat it out. Pomegranate was a “no” from both of us but we both like kiwi fruit.
Libra Activity
Since Naomi did my Gemini drawing activity with me, I thought I should do her Libra activity with her after morning tea. The Libra activity is dancing. Dancing couldn’t be more perfect for Naomi. She often puts on a performance for me before she goes to bed. This fits very well with Naomi’s personality.
So we put on some zodiac approved music and had a dance party. Libra’s like RnB best so we started with that and then moved on to Gemini’s favorite which is dance music. Very appropriate for a dance party!
Lunch
After quite the eventful morning, it was time for lunch. I thought we’d keep it basic and just go for some sandwiches because you guessed it there’s a zodiac chart online for that. PB&J for me which again I’d never tried before and Naomi got a caprese sandwich. I had to look up online what that was. Apparently it’s mozzarella, tomato, a balsamic and olive oil mix with salt and pepper. Seems to me that the zodiac got me and Naomi mixed around because Naomi’s not that big a fan of tomato. Surprise surprise we ended up swapping lunches.
I did still try the PB&J one though and the jam on the peanut butter is actually really good. Better than a peanut butter on its own but I probably would never choose to eat a peanut butter and jam sandwich. I preferred the caprese one as I like my sandwiches to be savory. It was actually really nice and super easy to make. I might have it again. So we swapped but were happy in the end.
Movie
I let Naomi have some screen time so that I could make an afternoon snack and some special zodiac drinks. So I found a list for zodiac Disney movies and for Libra it’s Tangled. I think she quite liked it as it kept her enthralled and we have since watched it again at her request.
Afternoon Tea
Naomi enjoyed her fruit salad afternoon tea and thought her cinnamon honey milk was yummy too. I had planned to have a salad too but when push came to shove, I couldn’t be bothered to make it and I wasn’t really even hungry. I did have my caramel cider drink though and was surprised by the depth of it’s taste. It was very rich in flavor. Naomi tried it too and liked it even more than her drink! Gemini and Libra approved apparently.
I left the day there because it was getting quite late in the afternoon and this was already becoming quite a long post. I’m not sure what these charts were based off. If there’s any science in it or if it’s just somebody’s opinion on what those different zodiacs should be like or whether it’s just completely random but it has been fun to try out some new things that I wouldn’t have normally tried by myself. I enjoyed everything. It was mostly just the cereal and the PB&J sandwich that I probably could have missed out on. Oh and the pomegranate. I wasn’t really a big fan of those. Naomi had fun too but obviously preferred my sandwich to her caprese one and preferred my drink to her one as well.
