Today’s 5 Ways to Wear It is a little bit different to normal in that instead of taking one piece of clothing and styling it in 5 different ways this time I’ll be styling Christmas Outfits in 5 different ways for 5 different Christmas occasions. Keep in mind that I live in Australia so the Christmas season falls over summer here. These outfits aren’t meant for snow! Watch below for the video version!
Christmas Outfit 1
Lets start with a work Christmas Party as my first outfits are always work appropriate. This outfit is actually what I wore to my work Christmas Party at the end of November. The theme was “festive attire” so I went with a neutral and red colour theme. My base was this beige dress I got from H&M for a family photo-shoot. It was a last minute, spontaneous purchase as I needed another neutral outfit for me, to go with my family. But it has actually turned into one of my favourite dresses. It’s nice and loose so it’s comfy for big dinners, if you know what I mean. The dress is also not too short so it’s appropriate for work. It’s a great base to add on to.
I paired this dress with my red stiletto heels to start to add some of that festive flavour! Continuing on the red Christmas theme, I popped on a red floral headband which still says Christmas but in a more classy way than your typical Santa hat. For accessories I went with big gold hoop earrings, chunky stacked gold bracelets and my favourite black and cream handbag for work. If you need an extra layer, layer on a white blazer for more professional vibes.
Christmas Outfit 2
For my casual Christmas outfit, I was picturing what I would want to wear for Christmas shopping. I personally don’t like to wear enclosed shoes when I need to walk a lot because then I tend to get blisters. These white slides are some of my comfiest shoes. You don’t really need to go too Chirstmasy when you shop but it never hurts. So I decided on these red culottes paired with a red singlet bodysuit and a white statement sleeve mesh crop top layered over the top to pull in the white from the shoes.
I do wish this top sat a little longer though and sat just above the pants. When it rides up it tends to cut me into 3 sections which isn’t the most complimentary but I like the effect when it’s pulled down. Gold earrings for accessories again. What can I say, I like gold for Christmas time! Then for the handbag I’ve gone with a large tan brown tote bag, which can fit a lot of what you buy inside it, in case you forget your reusable shopping bags.
Christmas Outfit 3
Outfit 3 I usually go for a more edgy outfit but I filmed this and now I’m regretting that I didn’t edge this outfit up more because it’s totally possible to be edgy and Christmassy at the same time. This base of the plaid pants and red singlet top with thick black belt is a great start but I’m not sure why I decided to go with the white sneakers now. For edge factor, swap the sneakers for combat boots. You could even add a leather jacket if so desired.
To accessorize this look I added a dainty gold necklace, gold hoop earrings and some round gold sunglasses. A red beret would also be a cute addition but I’m not sure the mix of reds I have is quite right. This outfit is actually the one I am contemplating wearing on Christmas day for our casual family BBQ/potluck lunch. How do you guys spend Christmas?
Christmas Outfit 4
If anyone out there is lucky enough to have a Christmas ball to go to I’ve got you covered as well. I can’t seem to go past red when it comes to Christmas. You could also go with an emerald green dress but I’m just more of a red girl. This red dress, I actually scored for free from a place called Blackbird Clothing Exchange! If you live in the Brisbane area look it up! It’s worth it! I haven’t had an occasion to actually wear it yet but I’m keeping my eye out. It would be the perfect dress for a Christmas ball. I would pair it with nude strappy heels, a statement necklace and a floral patterned clutch handbag. I doubt we’d need it here but a white faux fur coat would be my outerwear of choice if needed.
Christmas Outfit 5
For my Christmas date night, I’m picturing going out to Christmas carols and maybe a drive past a couple of Christmas lights on the way home. I’ve gone with red corduroy culottes and a white oversized shirt with a black lace bodysuit peaking out from underneath to dress up the look just a little as it’s still a date night.
I liked the look of the nude heels with this outfit but if you do plan on getting out at the Christmas lights and walking though people’s yards in the dark, I’d go for a much lower heel and way more chunky so you don’t sink into the ground or fall over. For accessories for this look, I layered on some gold necklaces and threw on a red cross-body handbag. That’s all my Christmas outfits for this year. Merry Christmas everyone! Have a blessed holiday season.
