Hey! So here’s what you need to know… You’re watching my newest series Dressed Up Dressed Down, where I show you ways to dress down a new outfit each video for a casual day or dress it up for a night out. Check out the previous episodes if you haven’t seen them yet and strap in for today’s outfit based around this purple body-con dress. Watch the video below or read on for the blog version.
The Base
Please don’t groan! I know, I know it’s another bodycon but it’s the last one I promise! I think I’ve just been feeling them lately for some reason. This one I purchased from Golden Tote a few years ago. If you don’t know about Golden Tote then I’ll link a blog post about them in the description below. All I’ll say here is they nailed it with this dress!
Dressed Up
To dress it up I’ve paired it with my galaxy patterned heels and a black grid-patterned coat. A long loose coat is a good way to go if you are self-conscious about wearing such a figure-hugging dress. The mix of tight and loose makes for a more interesting outfit as well. I love this print mix and it works so well because the patterns are different sizes, so they don’t compete for your attention. They are also separated by the purple dress which helps to make the pattern mix feel less daunting if you are just starting out with mixing prints.
An excellent bag to pair with this look would be my black glitter clutch but all my handbags are still in storage for the time being but just pretend I’m holding it here. To finish off the look I’ve added these turquoise blue statement earrings that pull colours from the pattern in the heels. The dark gunmetal black-type hardware keeps the look on the edgier side which I’m totally digging.
Dressed Down
For my casual look can you guess which shoes I used? You guessed it, my crisp white sneakers. The velvet floral bomber jacket I’ve added on top is actually also from the same Golden Tote that I got the dress in. They must have known how great these two pieces would be together! And can I just say again, they nailed it. Not sponsored by the way. I’m not even sure if they are still creating totes, unfortunately. To finish the look off I’ve added a black layered choker necklace and some square-cut cubic zirconia stud earrings.
